We hope you got your copy of Campertrailer Australia's epic Kimberley expedition (on sale Nov-11), featuring a full length DVD of the trip. Editor Carlisle Rogers spent five weeks filming in the region, and he has managed to capture the spirit of the place perfectly. From the Bungle Bungle Ranges to the Indian Ocean, few stones are left uncovered.
The Kimberley DVD comes with the current issue of Campertrailer Australia. You only have a few weeks left to grab yourself a copy, so get down to the newsagents now and watch a sneak peak of the DVD here!

We caught up with Carlisle recently to chat about the trip and find out what makes the Kimberley such a perennial favourite with travellers.
You spent over a month touring the
Kimberley with four campertrailers in tow,
what was your favourite place?
That's a hard question! Catching a 90cm barramundi out of the Pentecost River was definitely a highlight. I had always dreamed of catching a barra in the Kimberley, but not on my first try! It is the Kimberley coast that seems to feel most like home for me. Those red cliffs against the blue-green water of the Indian Ocean make it impossible to put my camera down.
Why do you think people love the
Kimberley so much?
That's easy. It's so beautiful it chokes you up whenever the sun starts to set. The air temperature from June to August is always somewhere between pleasant and wonderful, and there is so much to explore, to experience. The gorges are quite possibly the best swimming holes in the world.
Tell us about the DVD that comes with
this month's issue of Campertrailer Australia.
I like to think we visited the best of the Kimberley. And unlike a lot of other travel magazines that are giving away DVDs, the stuff that we do isn't too commercial. It's basically what I'd like to watch, if I was watching a travel DVD. We were experimenting with all-night time lapses, catching up with the traditional landowners to talk about some of the history of the place and generally living the dream out there.
We hear you have a book coming
out soon with pictures from this trip, too.
One of the things I set out to do on this trip was to shoot enough images for a book on the Kimberley. I've always been disappointed with most landscape books. It's just a bunch of trees and rocks, really. You need a 4WD and a camper to get to a lot of the country in this part of the world, and I thought they were rightly part of that landscape. So the book is about capturing the whole landscape, 4WD and all. That has never been done, and I thought I might be able to fix it. Presented by Campertrailer Australia, Hema is distributing the book nationally for us too.
What's your advice to people considering
a trip to the Kimberley?
Everyone up there says the same thing when you ask them about their trip. They shake their heads and say, "We should have done this years ago!" My advice is to stop making excuses. Life is too short not to live it. We regret the things we didn't do more than we ever regret the things we did.
